Amen

AMEN

When we say Amen we are acknowledging what we are hearing or saying is true. That we believe what is being said. It is a word that carries with it a lot of weight. It is almost like when someone is about to “testify” on the stand and they are ask “ Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?” and you say “ I do”. By saying amen you are testifying to God and those around you that what you said or heard, well is the “Gospel Truth”.

We all need to take this serious. If we are not telling the truth when we testify we will be held in contempt and God also will hold us to what we are affirming when we say amen. Our heart, mind and soul need to be in agreement. When we are going through some hard times and we may not feel everything that we should, it is ok to still say amen because its not on the surface that matters. It is what lies at our core that does.

One of the greatest amens to me is right after consecration at the mass. That amen comes from my soul. I know beyond anything that what I am seeing and hearing is the truth. The most undeniable truth there is to the Catholic Faith. We are saying amen as a collected people of faith in the church.

Another aspect of amen is that it shows to one another what we believe. We are saying to one another we are sharing in this mass or prayer together as one body of Christ. That we are in unity not just with each other but of the Trinity as well. The collective souls are opening themselves to be in one with heaven. In being one with heaven we are also sharing those blessings as well. Amen is opening that connection between this world and the spiritual one.

When you say amen, really think about what you are affirming. Do you really believe what you saw, heard or said to be that truth? The truth that no one can change your mind or heart about. Say amen with meaning. Let the amen come from your soul and you will feel a difference. Really open yourself to everything that it means.

Until tomorrow, God Bless, and next time you say amen, say it with conviction.
