Bible

Bible

Thus faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ. ~ Romans 10:17

I once heard the Bible referred to as “ Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth”. It is true but it is more then that. It is the living word of God. Not just for those in the past but in the here and now. God’s message has not changed since His words were handed down. He spoke to His people to spread the word of Hope, Salvation, Love and Forgiveness.

The bible can reveal God to us and lead us to a deeper and closer relationship with Him. He is there within the bible. He will speak to your heart and soul as you read. I did read the bible from cover to cover but I find that instead of doing that, just open up to where ever and start to read. You may just find something that has been on your mind will be answered by what you are reading. Turn pages, skip sections and just read. I found that when I do that, I get more from the experience. This also takes away pressure for you as well. You will not feel that you have to finish a certain section to move on. You may feel that you want to read one book of the bible and that is good. One lent I read one of the Gospels. It was part of my lenten journey. I just do not want it to be a pressure experience for you.

You can read the same passage in the bible at different times and get something different from it each time. What you get out of the passage may answer different questions that you are seeking answers for and other times just confirmation to what you are doing in your life. All you need to do is open the bible up. You do not need any formal training or a degree to understand the bible. It was written for you to under stand God’s will in the world and those who searched for Him.

I did not want this blog to be a history lesson about the bible but a hope that we all will come to read the bible and find out what it offers to us.

Until tomorrow, God Bless, and open up the Bible to hear the living word of God.
