Fog

Fog

This morning as I was driving the fog was starting to lift and as  I turned down another road it seemed that instead of lifting it was getting thicker. After a while it started to clear again. Now tonight I started thinking of how many times we are going through “foggy” aspects of our lives. We are uncertain of what lays ahead of us or we kind of see what is ahead of us but its not really clear. This can apply to our jobs, relationships, family, friends etc...

It is hard to travel in the fog and we tend to slow down and take it a bit easier as we turn the corners and the bends of the road. We should do this as well as our lives get a bit foggy and we are uncertain. This should be a time we slow down and try and see what is coming. Take the time for things to lift so we make the right choices in life. It may even be where we take some time to fully let the fog lift and wait to continue on.

A way for us to start to clear some of that “fog” is to turn to prayer. This is that wait aspect I talked about in the last paragraph. When we are praying we are stopping and taking the time to focus. When we focus we are able to make things out of what is there before us. It may still be “foggy” but the shape of it starts to form and we are able to at the least start to see the out part of what it is. Sometimes the fog just doesn’t lift but is burned off by the sun. The sun heats up the top layer  of fog and makes it way down and burns off the fog, layer by layer.

Jesus is that “sun” and light that we need to turn to in prayer. He will help us lift that fog or burn through those layers so it becomes clear to us. It is not to say He will directly answer us but just like it is when we speak to a friend or family and we express whats going on, and they just listen, all of a sudden we get it. We find the answers as we are talking. It is the same with Jesus. He sometimes will just listen because He knows what is in our hearts already. He knows the answers are there because we have Him in our lives.

Light will always shine through the fog. It may not be strong but you will always be able to make out the light in the fog. It is the same with Jesus. He is the light of the world and it is in His light that we will always be able to see. What I find interesting is that in the darkest time of night we are able to see that light clearly but it is in those times of fog that its not as clear. The light is almost muted.

It seems that it is almost easier to turn to Jesus during those dark times then when it just seems unclear. We venture out during those unclear times and try and figure it out ourselves more. Just because we kind of see the shape of what is before does not mean we know what it really is or what we really need to do. Think would you travel with your headlights off when there is fog before you or would you side on the sake of safety and have them on? Take the light of Jesus with you when you are in those “foggy” areas of your life so He can either lift or burn it off. Also remember that fog does not lift instantly. It will take some time. Things will become clearer to us and we will see all that is before us.

Until tomorrow, God Bless, and never be caught in the “fog” without the light of Jesus.
